What we collect from you

Nothing you type, because there is nothing here to type into. This site is a set of plain pages. There is no contact form, no account, no login, no newsletter box, no comments, and no reviews. You cannot send us anything through this site, so there is nothing here for us to collect.

If you never email us, we never learn who you are.

Ordinary server logs

The pages are static files served from a content delivery network. Like every web server there has ever been, it records ordinary request information while it serves a page: the internet address the request came from, the time, the page asked for, the browser's user-agent string, and whether the request worked.

That is operational data, held by the hosting provider so the site can be served and so abuse can be blocked. We do not use it to build a profile of you, we do not attach a name to it, and we do not sell it or hand it to an advertiser.

We are not going to print a retention schedule we cannot back. Those logs belong to the hosting provider and sit under the provider's own retention settings. When we can state the provider and the exact period accurately, this page will say both.

Cookies, analytics and trackers

This site sets no cookies of its own. There is no analytics script, no advertising pixel, no retargeting tag, no session recorder, no chat bubble, no social embed, and no third-party font or script that would report your visit to somebody else. The pages load their own stylesheet and their own images and that is the whole list.

If that ever changes, this page changes first, on the day it changes, and it will say what is running and why.

What we publish about businesses, and where it came from

The registry is built from a public record: the Florida DBPR licensee file for Sarasota and Manatee County. A listing carries business license information — the business name of record, the license number, the license type, the status the state had on file, when it was issued and when it expires, the county and city of record, and the date we checked.

That is public-record information about a business, published as such, labeled with its source and its date. It is not consumer data, and it is not information a person handed us. Most of the businesses on this list have not claimed their listing and did not give us anything — every one of those listings says so on its face.

What we deliberately do not publish

A public record is not automatically safe to republish whole. These are the things we hold back on purpose:

• No street address, anywhere on this site, including image descriptions and the machine-readable data behind a page. The address on a license record is often the license holder's home, because plenty of these businesses are one person and a truck. We publish the city and county of record and nothing finer.
• Not the license qualifier's name. That is a private individual's name sitting inside a business record. We hold it and we never print it.
• No date of birth, no license application detail, and no complaint or disciplinary history, even where it is public.
• No personal email address and no personal mobile number. Where a listing shows a number to call, it is a business number the business publishes on its own website, and the listing names the page we read it from and the day we read it.
• Nothing about a homeowner. Where building permit records come into this, the property owner's name, address and number are used for nothing and published nowhere. That homeowner never entered into anything with us.

We do not sell anything about you

We do not sell, rent, trade, or share personal information — not to a data broker, not to an advertiser, not to a lead buyer. There is no advertising network on this site and no tracking tag we were paid to place.

We do not run a lead business at all. Nobody pays us per phone call, per form, or per job. That model was ruled out before this site launched, and it stays ruled out, because the moment we get paid per job we start having an opinion about who you hire.

If you email us

Email is the only channel here. When you write to us we get your address and whatever you wrote, and we keep the thread so we can answer it and remember what we said we would do. We do not add you to a mailing list, and we do not use your address for anything other than the thing you wrote to us about.

If your business is on this list

Two paths, both free, both one email, neither one needs an account or a conversation with a salesperson.

Correct it. Tell us what is wrong and what it should be. We reply within two business days, and while we are checking a disputed item we hide that item on the listing rather than leave it up with a question mark next to it.

Remove it. Say the word and the listing comes down. You do not have to explain why. Removal is permanent: when a business comes down we keep the business name and license number on a do-not-list record and nothing else, precisely so a later records pull cannot put you back up. Keeping that one line is the only way the promise holds, and we delete the rest of the profile we built.

Privacy laws, honestly

We are a small operation in the United States. We have not built a statutory rights portal, we do not run identity checks on data requests, and we are not going to claim a compliance program we do not have. What we have is a person and an email address.

So: if a privacy law gives you a right, or you simply want to know what we hold about you or about your business, write and say so in your own words. We will answer in plain English within a few business days, and if we can honor it, we will.

Children

This is a site about contractor licenses. It is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect anything from anyone under 13.

Changes to this page

When what we do changes, this page changes and the date at the top changes with it. If we ever start collecting something we do not collect today, this page will say so before we start.
